1. Let’s start here with this fun health fact!

According to several different sources on the internet, laughing 100 times is equal to about 10 minutes on the rowing machine.

You know, I really hope that’s true because I laugh a lot. I mean, I spend most of my nights just scrolling through streaming services trying to find the next best comedy.

And, it’s a total win-win, because I definitely don’t have enough space for a rowing machine in my place.

2. Up next!

Just about everyone knows that coughs and sneezes can spread diseases, but did you know that “one single bacteria cell can multiply to become more than eight million cells in less than 24 hours.”

Doctors and healthcare professionals everywhere are recommending that we should all be practicing proper personal hygiene. From washing hands to at-home sinus rinsing, there are a variety of things you can do to help protect yourself and others from spreading horrible viruses, like COVID-19.

3. Now, this one might surprise you a bit, but that’s only because we do it so naturally.

However, that doesn’t mean we’re doing it right! Breathing!

It’s probably the most overlooked component to any good physical health regime, and yet it’s arguably the most important. Knowing how to control your breathing during your workouts - knowing when to inhale and exhale - will lead to increased performances and better results.

So, whether you’re looking to perform better in the pool, at the gym, or just at home, learning a few simple breathing techniques and practicing good nasal hygiene will not only help you control your breathing better, it’ll really help you step-up your game.

4. If you ever needed a good reason to go for a nap, this might just be your next excuse.

According to one report, scientists have broken it down and figured out that a person burns quite a few extra calories while they’re sleeping. For example, an adult person who weighs 185 pounds could burn around 56 calories per hour while catching some Zs.

It might not always be possible, but getting enough rest when you can isn't just an effective way to burn calories, it’s also a great way to improve your concentration and mental wellness. Just like exercising and practicing good personal hygiene, getting enough good sleep is important for maintaining your overall health.

5. In the end, it all comes down to hydration… Well, actually, the heart...

Did you know that you would need to consume at least a quart of water each day for four months to equal the amount of blood your heart pumps in one hour. At first glance, that doesn’t seem like that much, does it? But, when you think about it...

To add to that, if you’re an active person who enjoys getting the pulse racing, the amount of blood your heart moves could be significantly more. According to another source, the heart “beats 100,000 times per day, pumping five or six quarts of blood each minute, or about 2,000 gallons per day.”

Either way you look at it, it’s important to maintain a strong and healthy heart so it can keep doing its job.

When it comes down to it, we all know the basics of maintaining a good health and wellness regime. We focus on having a good diet and supplements, we track our activity levels so we know where we’re at, and we try to get enough sleep and water to get through it all. But, it's equally as important to take time to laugh and enjoy life. Remember to breathe and practice good personal hygiene.
