Why Personal Wellness And Hygiene Are Just As Important As Fashion And Style In 2020
June 12, 2020
So, it’s 2020. Let me ask you a question. Do you ever find yourself staring into your closet at all your beautiful outfits and wondering if you’re ever going to wear them again? Maybe, you’re standing in front of your shoe rack right now thinking about how great those heels go with that black mini. If so, you might actually be alone!
COVID-19 has caused many of us to reconsider what our main priorities are in life. Specifically, we’re now focusing more on our health and wellness and less on our style and fashion. We used to spend a fair amount of time each day planning our outfits, but now we’re spending hours in our favorite pajamas, on conference calls, thinking about things like good personal hygiene and how to stay active.
Sadly, the days of walking around shopping malls, surrounded by crowds of people, looking for the best deals, are on hold. Almost all gathering spots, such as bars and clubs, have been closed to the public; there are no sporting events or summer music festivals to attend; and, most of us don’t even get to dress up to go into the office, anymore. It’s kind of tough to put effort into what you're wearing when you really have no place to go.
The reality is that spending on apparel is down significantly, both offline and online. We are spending less on things like shoes and accessories and spending more on essential goods like groceries and health supplies. Overall, we seem to be taking less interest in our style and fashion, and putting more interest in our health and wellness.
The pandemic has also forced us to reconsider just how vulnerable we are. With no vaccination or cure available, we have to rely on our health to protect us from getting sick. Alongside self-isolation and social distancing, practicing good personal hygiene is key to preventing and stopping the spread of diseases like COVID-19. Incorporating strategies like consistent hand-washing and sinus cleansing into your daily routine is more important than ever.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has also brought the economy to a standstill. Unemployment rates have spiked and most countries around the world are bracing for what could be a major economic depression. As a result, people are preferring to spend their money wisely on products that will have lasting effects on their health and wellness and aid in their fight against the disease.
One thing is for sure, we are living in a time when we are all thinking a little more about our health and wellness and a little less about our fashion and style. Of course, we still love our closet full of clothes but for now we need to remain focused on staying safe, protecting ourselves, and protecting each other.
